Leadership Killers — overview

Oct 02 2009

I’m planning on a five part series about leadership killers–attitudes and actions that limit our influence. Here’s an overview:
^1^
fear (I’m not safe) and insecurity (I’m not good)

^2^
zeal (moving too fast) and apathy (moving too slow)

^3^
Tradition (past matters too much) and territory (walls matter too much)

^4^
incompetence (not skilled enough) blindness (not seeing enough)

^5^
indulgence (unbridaled desires) and impruity (unconfessed sin)

What is something that you’ve seen kill leadership? If you don’t want to post a comment, drop me an email: mattmcgill@live.com

  1. Arrogance – “Cause I know better”. Personal issue of mine that I’ve had bite me multiple times. I will learn eventually :) cause it totally handicaps your ability to address any other issues.

  2. great feedback paul! someone sent me an email with a few leadership killers they’ve seen…and one of them was arrogance!

I needed a better word for “blindness” … cause this is what I was going for, being blind to other ideas, feelings, issues around you… arrogance is a much better word and when I get to that one, I’ll be using it!

  3. so very, very good, and so very, very timely…
thank you so much for posting
